What information we collect
Enquiry and contact form data. When you contact us through our website forms, by phone, or by email, we collect your name, phone number, email address, the service you’re interested in, and any details you include in your message.
Customer and job records. When we carry out work for you, we collect and hold your name, contact details, property address, and details of the electrical work performed, including test results, certificates, and reports (such as EICRs and Electrical Installation Certificates).
Website usage data. Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Depending on your cookie preferences, this may include information about your device, browser, and how you use our site. See the Cookies section below.
How we use your information and our lawful bases
- Responding to enquiries and providing quotes — legitimate interests (responding to your request) or steps taken before entering a contract.
- Carrying out electrical work and issuing certificates — performance of a contract with you.
- Retaining electrical certificates, test results, and job records — legal obligation and legitimate interests. As a NAPIT-registered contractor, we are required to keep records of notifiable work and certification, and we retain records for the periods recommended under BS 7671 and our registration scheme.
- Notifying work to building control — legal obligation. Certain electrical work must be notified under the Building Regulations; this involves sharing your property address and details of the work with our competent person scheme (NAPIT) and, through them, your local authority.
- Sending invoices and keeping accounting records — legal obligation (HMRC requirements).
- Improving our website — consent (via cookie preferences).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.
Who we share your information with
We only share your information where necessary:
- NAPIT and local authority building control — for notification of notifiable electrical work and issue of compliance certificates.
- Service providers — such as our website hosting provider, email provider, and accounting software, who process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
- Professional advisers and insurers — where necessary, for example in connection with an insurance claim or legal matter.
- Authorities — where required by law.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Customer and job records, certificates, and test results: retained in line with industry guidance and our scheme requirements — typically for the recommended interval to the next inspection and at least 6 years, as these records relate to electrical safety and may be needed for future inspections, warranty matters, or legal claims.
- Invoices and accounting records: 6 years from the end of the relevant financial year, as required by HMRC.
